Day Trip To Sumpter Oregon

My family and I took a day trip to Sumpter, Oregon.  Three times a year (Memorial Day weekend, 4th of July weekend, and Labor Day weekend) they host a city wide flea market.  Lots of food, crafts and vintage collectables are on display.  Hidden behind the booths, and the people, lies the history of this once grand mining town.  The Sumpter Valley Dredge, the Sumpter Valley Railroad, and the remains of the Bank of Sumpter are definitely worth the trip.  It's a 30 minute scenic drive from Baker City, with beautiful Phillips Lake, and Wallowa-Whitman National Forest all along the way.  For more information about Sumpter Oregon please visit http://www.historicsumpter.com/

  1. I love Sumpter and miss it up there so much! About 7 years ago, I rented a cabin, just for me, and spent the weekend. It was so fun! I walked all over and wrote a lot. I always had plans on setting a novel there...but never got around to it! Thanks for sharing pics from home---miss you all!

  2. It really is a beautiful place. Sometimes I don't think we realize the amazing beauty in our own backyard. You still have time to write your novel. Never give up on that. Miss you all too!

  3. Great pictures and it sounds like a fun event! I am a sucker for flea markets. I have never been to Oregon but a RV USA tour is on my bucket list so I love finding out about new places to explore.
