How To Clean Your Tumbler Straws

Do you have a lot of tumbler cups around your house?  Well if you like me you have a ton of them. There great for on the go.  The kids really enjoy them.  In fact I take one to work with me everyday. I always drink lemon water or freshly made juice.  The fresh juice is what really gunks it up but if you haven't washed them in a while it will create mold in the straw. I wash my tumbler quite frequently but the darn straw doesn't seem to get clean.  Not even the dishwasher cleans them.  I had several straws that were looking a little grimy.  I had to come up with a way to clean all that gunk out of the straws.
Take a bamboo skewer for kaboobs and some guaze.  Wrap some guaze around the skewer.  Not too much or it will be too thick for the straw opening.  Make sure the guaze is up near the pointy end of the kaboob so it will easily slide into the straw.  Then push the skewer with guaze on it into straw.  You may need another skewer to help push the first skewer through the straw.  When you pull out your skewer, what you may find on the guaze could be quite disturbing.  I know I was a little grossed out.  I do this every few weeks, but more if I drink fresh juice.
