Mason Jar Mojitos

Mojitos, how I love you.  My infatuation with Mojitios started when my husband and I were watching the TV series Burn Notice.  It's a good show, on the show one of the characters would always order a Mojito when they were at a restaurant.  We both got intrigued.  What are Mojitos?  We are from a little town in Oregon and had never heard of them and we don't drink much.  Later that year my husband and I went on a trip to Vegas, my husband decided that he was going to order a Mojito.  Am I glad he did.  I couldn't resist the refreshing taste.  I was hooked.  They are truly amazing.  What I love so much about them is, you can't taste the alcohol in them, they are not that high in calories and it's the perfect refresher on a hot summer day.  As you may have guessed, we now grow our own mint so we can enjoy these exhilarating drinks the whole summer.
Mojitos are made up of Club Soda, Rum, Limes, Sugar and Mint.
What a perfect kind of drink to enjoy from a mason jar.  You are not able to get mason jar sip and straw lids which we used.

This recipe is for 1 Pint Mason Jar Mojito.

Mojito

Handful of Fresh Mint Leaves
1/2  Freshly Squeezed Lime Juice
2 Tbsp White Sugar
1 1/2 Fluid Ounces of Rum
1/2 Cup Club Soda

Place mint leaves in jar, add sugar and lime juice.  With a muddle, you will crush the mint into the sugar and lime juice to release the mint oils.  Do not strain mint leaves.   Add rum and club soda.  Stir until all combined.  Add ice and taste.  If needed add more sugar.  You can also adjust the rum to your liking.
