Easy Homemade Carpet Freshener

With 2 boys and a dog, our carpet doesn't stay fresh very long.  I usually vacuum my carpets every other day.  When I do, I like to add a little something extra to the carpet to make it smell clean and fresh.   This is a quick and easy way to freshen up those carpets without spending money for the commercial stuff.

All you need is some baking soda, essential oil (any scent), and a pint size mason jar with lid and seal.

First thing I do is add some baking soda to the jar.

Next add the essential oil, you can add as much of this as you wish.  I added 15 drops to my jar.  You don't want to add too much though, as it is concentrated and a little goes a long way.

Stir baking soda until mixture is combined.

Now place your lid and seal on the jar.

Grab a hammer and a small phillips screwdriver.

Hammer the screwdriver into the lid to create the holes for your shaker.  You can make as many holes as you like.  Just enough so the freshener can sprinkle out onto your carpet.

There you have it, easy homemade carpet freshener.

Now you will want to vacuum so you can use your freshener.

Sprinkle Away!

Let me know how this worked for you and what scents you like to use.
